Game of Thrones (Show Spoliers but please come in of you've read the books).
I have a question but don't want any book spoilers, I've read the first 3 and I'm about 1/2 way through 4.
WHY did they make the Jaime Cersei scene a rape scene? I feel like book Jaime would never rape Cersei bc his character seems to be redeeming himself for all his wrongs in the books.
Did anyone else scream WTF at the TV?

my face was screwed so tight I was truly disgusted. Was that scene really necessary? I mean on the altar?!?!?
You know it's bad when Cersi is saying "It's not right" over and over

I was so pissed by that scene!!! In the book he's totally redeeming himself at that point! That was one of the first times I was pissed off by something they changed. That and the fact that Rob's wife went to the red wedding.

Yes! That made me mad, too!
And that they left out the "I dreamed of you" line when Brienne asks Jamie why he went back to save her! I loved his response in the book, and I totally want them to get together!

Not to give anything away, I would hate to be a spoiler. But on Daily Mail there is a piece abt George Martin saying something abt that. So if anyone wants to take a look. Btw I never watch the show but it was on and DH was watching and as I am prego I couldn't move so I actually watched this past epi and was very confused by this scene - it made 0 sense other than just never happening in the book. As my DH abt to kill me for constantly saying "that's not how it is in the book!!" (I am basically banned in our house from proximity to TV when GOT is on LOL) I had to sit quietly and suffer

I know I'm the minority here, but I actually liked the change (not that I enjoy rape or anything). I actually saw it as more of fuel for Cersei's fire and how she slips completely into madness after this happens.
If you didn't read ahead, you should probably stop reading here....
I think people tend to forget because he was trying to redeem himself with Brienne how despicable a person Jaime Lannister actually is. This is the same guy who has murdered countless amounts of people and who threw Bran out the window of the tower at Winterfell because he was caught with Cersei. I still think the show has a chance to show Jaime as a sympathetic character when he frees Tyrion. I almost think that scene was necessary given that there needs to be a sharp schism between Jaime and Cersei for his character to actually evolve. You also have to remember, with the book, the timeline was completely different. I'm pretty sure Jaime wasn't even there when Joffrey died.

Thank you! I just read GRRMs daily mail piece and feel a little better about it.
And yes, the timeline in the books was very different and Jamie returns after Joffreys Wedding.

yes, yes, yes abt Jaime. I always believed tho that his yrs of suppressing what happened to him with the mad king and on top of that yrs of Cersei using him and twisting him he lost who he was. So I do not think he was redeeming himself as much as finding himself again after being exposed to Brienne as well as losing his fighting hand that defined him for so long. But that doesn't delete all the sh!t he did. Not even a little bit.
