Games and crafts at birthday parties?

Do they work? Or is it just too much chaos for 3 & 4 yr. olds? Chat Icon

DS put a wrench in my plans for his 4th birthday party Chat Icon I was planning on doing a fire truck birthday party and contacted a company that actually brings a fire truck to your house and lets the kids plan on the truck, plays games, goes over fire safety. DS told me today he wants a Toy Store birthday party which is fine, but now I am trying to think of things to do at the party...games and crafts. Any ideas? Or should I just let them play and occupy themselves?

try oriental trading. You can get a bunch of craft kits for dirt cheap, so they are there if they want them, if not, you didnt waste a ton of money.

no clue bc we have only done family bdays so far. this yr it will be at a gym. but i got my ds buzz and woody ceramic figures to paint and he thought it was so cool. the same ones you see at the pottery painting places. it may be a fun and easy craft for them...although a bit messy.

Yeh I was thinking no painting Chat Icon

I was thinking about games like hot potatoes, musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey...but make them all Toy Story themed. I dont know if these games are too old for that age group.

The kids will be in heaven! and they will sit and play....playdoh is like magic! I did it for my DD's 3rd bday at home with some crafts from oriental trading and the kids sat and had a blast.

This is a really cute craft- but you'd have a lot of prep work to do... it's really adorable and really different though;

Re: Games and crafts at birthday parties?

I just did this and I thought it worked. The older ones (3-4) were very interested in sitting and doing some crafts.

I thought about that but wasn't sure if I would be able to find one.

Re: Games and crafts at birthday parties?

Crissy, I think some of the games you mentioned might be too much for that age group - but some will work.

I love the crafts some of the girls posted above. We have a craft table here for Ty's birthday and everyone got to decorate their pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. It actually worked out nicely, and they did a good job.

There is a company that does a decorate your own cupcake. They come and set everything up for the kids. Not sure if you would be into that??!

Otherwise - I would print out lots of Toy Story coloring sheets. Get lots of Toy Story Stickers, and let them go to town Chat Icon

This is who we used - maybe they have a Buzz or Woody. I highly recommend them!
