ganirelix - updated with new question
i have to do this to lower my LH before i start stimming for this cycle. ive never done it before, what should i expect? any side effects?? its sub-q inject right?
has anyone here used it for any reason other than to stop ovulation prior to IVF? that wont be what im using it for, but any experiences either way would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
ANOTHER QUESTION - did you find yourself bloated from it? i know most people use it while already stimming so it may be hard to tell which drug caused the bloating. right now im only on ganirelix and metformin. i did my first ganirelix shot this morning, and i didnt eat too much today, and i already feel EXTREMELY bloated!!

Re: ganirelix
I used it to stop O but I didn't experience any side effects from it that I noticed. The only thing I did notice was that the injection site got a little red.

Re: ganirelix
It stings a little going in, but no side effects that I noticed. Then again I was on A LOT of other drugs at the time, so who knows!!!

i feel like ive never heard of it used in the way im about to use it. actually ive only heard of using it for IVF...
but i guess that's what dr. b is about, making the new protocols, not going by the standard ones..

Re: ganirelix
I used it with my last IUI to stop naturals ovulation, Dr B said that this helped both of my eggs mature. It's a subcateneous injection, didn't hurt at all, and I had no side effects from it

Re: ganirelix
thanks for the info. im using at the beginning of this cycle to combat my high LH. then i will stim after that i think . i am also starting this cycle on CD36 or so.. my last AF was in may (it was the m/c bleed), and i havent ovulated or gotten AF since. at my last appointment there was nothing going on egg-wise, and the only high level hormone was my LH so i think once we get that down i can start stimming.. so its like CD1 all over again for me!!

Re: ganirelix
I used it for my first ivf.. I did have a reaction to it. I got hot flashes. If you get these, please call your re right away. I told the nurses at my re and they didnt pass along the info to the re.. when i told the re, he took me off of it for my second ivf session and put me on Lupron.

Re: ganirelix - updated with new question
I definitely felt bloated for days after doing the ganirelix shot.... probably like 5 days before I felt any relief.
