Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
I think the food is very good. It's not a buffet, it's served family style, but they bring out more if you ask for it. 8pm is very late though! But then again we eat dinner by 6pm at the latest.

Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
I've never eaten there, but I've heard pretty good reviews. Do you definitely want a character meal? If not, there's so much better food at EPCOT.

Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
We were thinking of checking this out on our next trip instead of Chef Mickey's which we had a not so great experience last time (we did it our last 2 trips). From what friends who have done this have told us - food is eh mixed reviews definitely better food at other EPCOT restaurants - but they did enjoy it. If you decide try it let me know how it went.
If you are looking for another character meal aside from Chef Mickey's another alternative if you are okay with breakfast is the donald and friend's meal at Tusker house in AK. They have a character breakfast which gets pretty good reviews.
There is also Cape May breakfast but that isn't in any of the parks if that matters to you.

Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
There's always Akershus.
I have been hearing a LOT of negative reviews about Chef Mickey's lately.
I've heard pretty good things about Garden Grill though, People mostly have said it's ok.
Have you thought about 1900 PF?

Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
I don't care for Chef Mickey's at all and I've been okay with the food at Garden Grill - not amazing, but the character interaction is great.
Tusker House is an option for character breakfast AND lunch now so consider that.
1900 Park Fare is iffy in our experience for both food and characters. We've had great and glad-it's-us-and-not-clients experiences there.

1900 park fare (grand Floridian) there are 2 different meals. Breakfast is Alice, Mary Poppins, Mad hatter and I forget who else. Dinner is Cinderella, the Prince, Step mother and step sisters (who are VERY much in character).

The food at the buffets are honestly not very good - but you go for the character interaction without the huge lines not the food.
If you want some better food - I would not only try the traditional sit down places (but avoid places like Coral Reef) try places like - Bistro de Paris, Jiko, California Grill etc the food at those places actually is pretty good and gets good ratings with Zagats. We have had hits and misses at some of the others. I actually had an excellent fillet mignon a couple of years back at San Angel Inn so sometimes you can be surprised. I know a lot of people rave about Le Cellier but honestly the two times we ate there our meals weren't much better than places like outback.
Honestly though I have to say for the most part I don't have high expectations for the food at disney - and while we have actually had some really good meals I think most places are more equivalent to say a chain restaurant just with a much higher price tag because you are a hostage if you don't have a rental car. This way when we do have a good meal we are pleasantly surprised.

Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
I wasn't thrilled with 1900PF when we went in 2003, but I've been hearing better reviews of it lately. It may be worth it just for the Tremaines

Re: Garden Grille in Epcot?
i like the food at Crystal Palace. and i like they have a lot to choose from for the kids. we are going the first day when we get down there and we are going to be starved so we figured that was a good idea. if it wasn't for the characters i don't think i would eat there. we love Germany and England and we are trying Canada for the first time. i think it's a matter of personal taste too. some people don't like olive garden and i love it!! hahaha it's like mcdonalds for italian food!! Epcot has the best food. we are going to squeeze in France too. i can't wait!!!!!

Let us know how Le Cellier is! I'm dying to bring DH there. I couldn't get an ADR there this time since I booked only 4 months out

It's okay. I don't get the hype at all but don't mind it for lunch.
