Re: Garden wedding
Depends on how fancy it is. But I like a little sundress. This one is from Victoria's Secret.
ETA: I'm adding this dress from ModCloth just because I want it and the last thing I need is another party dress.
BB Dakota Classic Stunner Dress in Paisley.
But I just picture any fit and flare dress! They just feel very feminine and pretty to me- perfect for a garden wedding!

Re: Garden wedding
If it's not super fancy, what about a maxi dress? There are so many pretty ones that are not made out of that flimsy clingy cotton material that I think would be perfect for an outdoor event.
I also think they look good on almost anyone.

TY for the suggestions! I have a feeling it's still going to be pretty fancy. I will find out for sure later. I would love if I could just wear a Maxi dress!

Re: Garden wedding
I agree with halfbaked - I'd do a pretty and feminine fit and flare. You can easily dress something like that up or down appropriately, and never look underdressed.
I don't think a maxi dress is appropriate - maybe for a wedding on the beach, in the sand .......but not a Chicago "Garden" Wedding - I can almost guarantee it's going to be a formal ish affair w/ a "Garden" theme - KWIM?

Re: Garden wedding
I agree- don't go too casual, especially sincec this is your brother. Also, I have been to Chicago for memorial Day weekend, and it is usually chilly. Is the wedding outside in an actual garden at night?

They're hoping to be able to do it outside. I don't think they will know until that week.
