gas pain or contractions?

I have been feeling weird all day with lower back pain and lots of braxton hits- dh and I went to movies and I ate some popcorn and I have been having on and off pain and bloating type feeling for about 4 hours now I dont know whether or not its gas or contractions, the pains are on and off butI havent been timing them I guess I should. They are cramp like gas pains- I dont know Im so clueless. my belly feels soo tight though

Wow, it's funny that you posted this, because I have been feeling the same EXACT way all day today. If you figure out what it is, please let me know!

It's quite possible that you are having contractions. I started having real ones at 37 weeks. The dull back pain was the first symptom, then tightness in belly area. When I went into labor the pains were like menstral cramps.

There were periods of time where I would have contractions for 2-4 hours and then they would stop.

Sounds like the contractions I've been having. False labor or Braxton Hicks. Sometimes they are timeable but as long as they are erractic or stop, it's not true labor.
