Gas pains at 8 1/2 weeks?
So far this pregnancy, I havent had to deal with too much besides m/s. But the past 4 days or so I've been extremely constipated and gassy. I get HORRIBLE gas pains (sharp, low pains) especially in the morning and when I'm laying down. Anyone else experience this? Is there anything I can do to relieve it? Its not harmful to the baby, right??

YOu may want to look into certain foods you are eating that are contributing to the gas pains as this is somethign you will most likely deal with for the rest of your pregnancy....
I am 32 weeks now and I've had to eliminate a whole bunch of veggies and beans (broccoli, brussel sprouts, turnips and beans) from my diet because they give me HORRIBEL gas pains, bad enough that I called my idwife at 2am because I thought there was somethign wrong
Also increasing your water consumtion adn fiber intake to make sure you go to the "bathroom" regularly will help!!

I actually think its mostly from the Zofran I was prescibed -- I havent been able to go to the bathroom in days. I havent been able to eat much fruits and veggies either, so I'm sure thats not helping.

I had horrible horrible gas pain in the latter part of my 7th week. In fact one episode occurred on Thanksgiving! I had pain so bad i was doubled over! I didnt get nervous though (and believ me that is shocking ) bc prior to being preggo i would have attacks of this gastritis, so i knew the pain was exactly the same!
I attributed it to diet i had for 3 night in a row, lentil soup. then the next day I had this attack. Then on Thanksgiving I had DELICIOUS chicken soup (on top of a lot of other food) and foudn out that the soup had turnips in them to cook the soup. and I had 2 large bowls!!!!
I was miserable!
I havent had it since then, but i/ do notice that if I lay on my side after just eating a meal like that it brings it on even worse!

The zofran would not cause the gas, but if you aren't eating and drinking a lot that can be a BIG contributor. If you are starting to get dehydrated one of the first places your body pulls water from is your small intestines and therefor makes your uummmm.. poop harder from lack or mouisture. Also, if youa ren't eating a lot there isn't a lot to push out and the intestines get gassy.
Instead of trying to get your fiber from fruits and vegies which have a tendency to produce more gas try some oatmeal or a high fiber cereal or bread!
