Gas stove top won't light..boiled over milk/chai latte mix :(
I was trying to make a chai latte today with milk and a liquid chai mix.
It boiled over onto my gas stove top, & now it won't light. I think it uses electric to start, because I can hear the clicking but no flames come on. I'm reading I can light it manually with a match & it should be able to clear it out and get it working..does anyone have any experience with this?
This happened on my mom's stove, so she's not too pleased.

Are they sealed burners? Sometimes the spill can gum up the spot where the spark happens. Take a damp cloth, lift the grate and remove the ceramic caps and gently clean the burners. After cleaning I have noticed it may take a bit to dry completely.. give it a day and try again. In the interim you can light with a match or barbecue lighter.

If you turn it on and hear the clicking, you should be able to just put a lighter (preferably a long one) near it, and it will light up.

I found out recently that some stoves dont have pilot lights, they use an electric startee. I always keep match sticks in case i cant light the stove, in a pinch I have even used an uncooked spaghetti.. Use a plastic bristle brush to remove dirt ( as long as the stove is cool ). Hth

We've been lighting our stove with matches or a fireplace lighter.

this happened with my gas stove..the pilot wasn't out..but whatever got wet needed to dry out..try it again today..see if better..good luck.
