GD Girls - increased morning glucose levels

For the past 5 days, my morning (fasting) glucose level has been going up. It's supposed to be 90 or lower but it's been increasing daily as follows:

91
93
95
98
101

I have an appointment with the diabetic educator today and I'm afraid they are going to put me on insulin. I'm terrified of giving myself an injection!!

Any other GD girls go through this? What was your outcome?

Mine have been like that for the past 5 days too. So weird - and I am on insulin and metformin. Try to think of the reason. Have you changed your nighttime snack? Have you not been sleeping well?
If everything is the same as usual, it may just be your body. I was told that it is harder to control the further along you get. Those #'s aren't extremely high and if you are really uncomfortable with taking anything, your doc will probably give you another week to get it under control.

Re: GD Girls - increased morning glucose levels

I had GD and I had the same problem as you too. My fasting glucose kept creeping up and then my numbers after meals were too so I needed to start the insulin.

I had to take insulin 3X/day and on the outside chance you need to as well don't sweat it. I was a little freaked out about giving myself the insulin injection but it was SO easy, it's just a little "pen" and it doesn't hurt AT ALL. Pricking my finger to test my sugars hurt a lot more than the insulin injections.
