GD girls- anyone have numbers creep up Twds very end of pregnancy?
I was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks. I was completely diet control except for my morning fast. I take NPH at bedtime for that. The past week my daytime 1 hour post meal numbers have been creeping up. I am almost always reaching 140 at my 1 hour post meals. I need to keep it 140 or below but I hardly ever in the past would reach 140. Now I'm consistently reaching it and sometime a few points over. My dr put me on short acting insulting before dinner now.
Is this normal to have an increase.
I am 37 weeks.

Yes, it is completely normal. I had it happen with my first pregnancy and it's happening now with my 2nd. My drs said its bc the placenta - towards the end has more difficulty processing sugars and the reason the sugar in blood increases.

i always had numbers just below, at, or just above the high number for my range (120 after 2 hours) and my doctors never questioned it and said they were perfectly fine.

My doctor said as the pregnancy progresses, it is normal for your GD to get harder to manage. You're so close!!

Actually the closer I got to 40 my levels went down but the fasting. They were putting me on glyburide for the night but just at 37 weeks it dropped to under 90 so I got lucky and didn't have to take it. I think stress increases it also as you get closer. Hang in there.
