Geez, I always say "Never say Never", and I said never...
I said I would never rent out a place for Ava's first birthday party, that I really just wanted a backyard party. Well, I didn't stop to think that I don't have a backyard. Neither does anyone in my family, at least not one big enough to fit a birthday party in. We all live in townhouses (I will be by Ava's bday, as well), and there's just no room, moreso incase of rain. So, here I go.....
Does anyone know of a place I can have Ava's bday party in Suffolk? From like Huntington to anywhere east of there? I don't want to spend a ton of money, and it's for about 50 people.

Believe me I did not want to have it at a place but mid March is hard to do in a backyard. And what killed us is that we have a great size yard to entertain. We had Tori's at Giorgio's Pizzeria/Restuarant in Nesconset. They have a side party room. We feed the kids pizza and chicken fingers and the adults ordered what they wanted. We had 24 adults and 14 kids. They do have a flexible party menu. We got a Costco $15 cake that was excellent. It was totally laid back party and cost us not much more than what we would have paid having it at home. Good Luck

How about a church hall? That way its just a nice big room and you can do whatever you want for it, get your own food buffet style, get a Costco cake (we had one too and it was awesome) and just do it easy stylee...

We had son #1's first birthday at Club TGIF in Farmingville. They were very reasonably priced, but you have to do ALL the work ~ decorations, paper goods, food (they have a caterer but I wasn't crazy about the food), set up and clean up. Included in the price is a DJ who kept the kids entertained ALL day.
We had son #2's first birthday party at Dave and Buster's in Islandia. A bit more expensive, but all we had to do was pick everything out and show up. They did it all. The food was wonderful (and I'm a HUGE food snob!) and the service was too.

I'm having Marron's at the Knights of Columbus in Kings Park. It's not too big, but a nice size for 50 people. It is only $295 to rent (plus a $200 deposit that is refunded at the end of the party if all is okay), and then you bring in all your own stuff.

Seriously, try Irish times. Its not far from you, they give you the cake, they have a private room to the left and the party goods etc... could be bought next door at party hardy along with the balloons. You whole set up would be in one place. I had my shower there and might do Gillians b-day as well.

Some firehouses have parks that you can rent. I think some districts let their residents rent it out without being a member.

Not sure if you have ever heard of Milk & Sugar Cafe in Bay Shore OR if you want more of a kiddie place that the grown ups will like too, there is Milk & COOKIES their new place. It's a great old fashioned Ice Cream shop/General Store. They have a huge room in the back for parties

rach, the townhouses dont have a community center to rent? see if their is one in your parents complex. you also are more than welcome to use our backyard as you know we fit up to 80 people. i can leave you the house for the day. also if you really want an indoor place bertuccis in meville has a private room and its not too expensive. also pomodorinos in hauppauge. what about your school isnt it closed in the summer can you use some part of the facility?

You can rent a pavillion at a public park, like the Holtsville Park. I know several people who have done that and it's very reasonable.

Re: Geez, I always say "Never say Never", and I said never...
All good ideas, girls! I also wanted to look into the Sunken Meadow Pavillion. Corinne, I appreciate the offer of your backyard, and I wouldn't send you away because, hello, you're invited I probably COULD do it at my grandmother's house where my baby shower was, but I don't want to put anyone out or make anyone else feel like they need to clean their house for us. Everyone's townhouses have clubhouses, but my sister and aunt's is being redone and my parents and grandparents' do not accomodate parties. Bleh. I'm going to definitely check out the pavillion at Sunken Meadow and the Milk and Sugar Cafe.
