my reading has ebbed and flowed over the years. it's always been an organic process. i read when i want, stop when i want.
for 2019, i am making an effort to read more. i am almost done with my first book... which i started on 12/26.
so, i just got to wondering about what other people are reading.
what are your favorite genres? do you prefer long/heavy reads or light/fast page turners? classics or new stuff?
oh, and what's your ALL-TIME FAVORITE book?

Re: genres
Mostly Sci-Fi. Comedies, Horror.
My favorite author, by far, is Stephen King.
Pretty much all of his books are long/heavy reads...
What I read varies quite a bit, though. I enjoy long novels, but I also like a light, easy read too.

I love psyhological thrillers. Can’t get enough of them! Sometimes I’ll read a lighter book like chic lit just to break it up a bit but I always end up feeling like it was a waste of time. I like books that make me think and when I can try to solve what’s happening.

Re: genres
Sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal/dystopian for me. I like a good Game of Thrones type book, if it's a series it's even better since I can rely on a few good books in a row.
My favorite book is Red Rising. It's like Game of Thrones meets Ender's Game and it's the first in the trilogy.
This is the blurb from Goodreads:
"I live for the dream that my children will be born free," she says. "That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them."
"I live for you," I say sadly.
Eo kisses my cheek. "Then you must live for more."
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.
Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.
But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity already reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.
Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity's overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society's ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies... even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

Same. Love books like Behind Closed Doors- books that I can't put down. That's pretty much the only genre I read anymore to be honest.

Re: genres
I read all over the place, but lots of historical fiction.
My favorite reads so far this year have been The Beantown Girls and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

Re: genres
I like women's fiction (both more literary and chick lit), psychological thrillers/suspense, romance.
To a lesser degree I read historical fiction and venture into non-fiction, such as memoir, biographies, and other topics of interest (life coaching type books, weight/health books, etc.).
