Get Out movie fans
My husband and I watch the movie a few months ago and thought it was horrible. Now I totally get there are personal opinions as to why someone likes or dislikes something but for the life of me, I can't understand how this movie got so many nominations. I'm totally willing to accept that I might not "get it". Can someone explain from an artistic POV what is so great about this movie?

Get Out movie fans
it was a complete mind fcuk. I was blown away with this movie, thought it was well done and a psychological thriller. Allison williams was a sick mean, crazy woman. I dont typically like her, but she killed(literally) in this role. He was fantastic too.

Loved it!! I also feel it was an actual thriller not just a bunch of gross scenes put together in a movie and then slap the scary movie label on it. I also appreciated the character acted realistically. I felt like everything you scream at in other movies, they would actually do.
It was great, I remember being so surprised at how much I liked it. Good job for it being his first movie, I was very impressed.

I loved this movie too. At first I was baffled. And then found myself gasping when I started putting it all together. It was one ****** up movie

Ha, my DH and I thought this movie was pretty stupid too.
Pretty much from the get go, i kept saying - this movie is ripping off the Stepford Wives, and from that point on, it just became a pretty stupid parody and not anything original or ground breaking or even good IMO. I know Stepford Wives is an older movie, but most people at least know of it, or the premise of it to realize that Get Out was not anything original or even done that well.
So i'm with you.. don't understand all the praise either.

I thought it was good - held my attention. I wouldnt say I LOVED it, but I liked it.
Lets me honest though - the reason this movie got so many nominations is because there hasnt been any stiff competition in a very long time. I mean I cant even remember a movie I saw within the past couple years that I was blown away by.

I agree.. it was racially charged, so I don’t see the stepford wives comparison.
To me it’s a lot better than that movie moonlight everyone was raving about last year.. I saw it because of all the talk and it sucked so bad. I will never get those two hours back.

All of this! I thought it was surprisingly well done but I love these types of movies. There isn't a thriller or horror that I won't watch. Within the realm of horror movies, which usually suck, this was actually a good one!

I think people go into it with preconceived notions or microagressions. If you're not interested in the racial aspect you pretty much won't get it.

I watched it last night and liked it a lot! It was creepy (the type of movie I like), and it really held me from beginning to end. Now as far as getting all these nominations, I don't know about that, but it was definitely entertaining.
Question about something in the movie...(Spoiler)...
When Chris found that box of old pictures of Rose with the other victims, did someone leave that out for him to find? Did someone want to help him? Maybe I have to rewatch that part, but it seems like that box was left out in the open for him to find?

Just watched this movie. I was thinking maybe Georgina left that closet door open. The part I couldn’t understand is why did they only choose black people to do this to? I get it, they wanted someone younger, faster, etc. But why were they only black?

I didn't really like it either. I didn't think it was really that suspenseful--you knew right away that there was something weird with all the Black people & while I didn't exactly know what the point was, it just seemed really tedious to me.
I did like the TSA agent friend though.

I get that it was supposed to be suspenseful, but it was just boring & tedious to me. I'm too impatient for these types of movies, I think.
I do think it was strange that it was nominated for an Oscar--thrillers arne't usually, but Silence of the Lambs and the Sixth Sense were, and those are thrillers, but those are much better.
I think, in this movie, there wasn't enough character development, and there wasn't much of a story line bedside the weird stuff going on int eh house. They tried to make racial parallels to current society, but it just wasn't developed enough.

We just watched this the other night and I really liked it, my DH didn’t. I love these types of movies though. I was cracking up at the TSA agent lol.

Watched this this weekend and I thought it was a snoozefest. I struggled to stay awake through the whole thing. No suspense at all. You can see where he was trying to film in the style of Hitchcock. And in some parts was very close but the characters and story line needed much more development.

I don’t think it’s for everyone and I don’t know if I would put it on the same level as sixth sense and silence of the lamb either.
To me it’s the same as Moonlight, it was so boring and dumb. I have no clue what people saw in that movie. So I am not surprised that there are mixed reactions to Get Out.
