getting a job- job fairs

I posted this on career but I don't think anyone reads that board...thought I might get more response here....anyone been to a job fair? What was it like? I'm not understanding how you know what types of jobs each company has....not sure if it is a waste of time, especially for senior level positions?? Thoughts?

Eachone is different. I teach adult ed medical careers and we send our students to them every month and they always come back with different info. Good luck with the search!!!

I have been to one or two along the way and IMO they are a total waste of time.

Basically-- they are like recruiting events and they collect resumes. It's one thing if you are entry level-- but an experience professional I don;t think will have much luck.

If you have nothing better to do-- why not check it out though.

I would try it. My DH had very bad luck with recruiters, went to a job fair and got his current job through that. It was a job fair for one particular company, though, so that might be why he had good luck with it.
