Getting a tree trimmed back... recommendations?

My neighbors HUGE TREE overhangs my yard, by a lot. I'd like to get rid of all the branches on my side. I feel like it creates a lot of leaves in the fall and BUGS in the summer.
Am I legally allowed to just have someone cut back their tree?

Also, does anyone have a recommendation for someone to do the trimming? Should I speak with my landscaper?
I live in Western Nassau.

Thanks!

Re: Getting a tree trimmed back... recommendations?

i dont know anything about the legality of it since it is your neighbors tree; but i used cheap charlies for some major tree removal work and they were amazing! we quoted the job out with 3 companies and they were the cheapest and the did a great job. i would def recommend them

but if its something small like cutting back a few branches, your landscaper may be able to do that

I believe you can trim the branches that are hanging over your property line but anything beyond that, you can't.

Yes, Cheap Charlie we've used as well as Tree Wise Guys - both about the same, price wise. You can trim back anything that falls over onto your property. We've done it with a number of trees.

Thank you!
Does anyone have a range of what trimming back a large tree would cost?
