Getting an unexpected sono visit?
Have any of you just not been able to take it anymore and tried to get into your doctor earlier than your appointment to see if everything was ok or are you able to hold off? Just reading so many stories and all it gets my mind going and wish I could get in there earlier ... I don't know for some reason I can't let it go today. I had an awful m/c dream last night that is just taking over the rest of my day.

Re: Getting an unexpected sono visit?
my doctor would do a sono if I had major cramping or bleeding.

Yeah I know I won't call and will hold out, but just curious to know if anyone has ever done it.

Re: Getting an unexpected sono visit?
Normally unless you're having some sort of medical complication, they do them only as scheduled and/or in accordance with your insurance. I know you're worried, we all were in the beginning (and still are) but you just hang in there! You'll see the baby soon enough .

Re: Getting an unexpected sono visit?
Once during my early 2nd trimester I had horrible cramping, my OB did an impromptu sono for me. It was hard during those days before I can feel movement, every little thing worried me.

Re: Getting an unexpected sono visit?
I just started seeing my new doc- but they said I can come in as often as I like if it makes me more comfortable. And- they do a sono at every visit.

I KNOW it's absolute torture, but if I were you, I'd try to hold out for your 12 week sono - just because it's so cool how much it actually looks like a baby at that point and there is definitely a difference between 9 weeks and 12 weeks.
We have an early pregnancy unit at the hospital that you cna just walk in to, but you need to have a reason for them to scan you - ie bleeding or cramping.

Re: Getting an unexpected sono visit?
im sure everything is okay as long as your dont have cramps and no bleeding you are fine. i went in on tuesday to check on the baby becuse i went flying and he was fine then yesterday i had to go back bc i was bleeding. those are the only reasons why i needed random sonos. other than that im against going to get extra appts for no reason.
im okay with the baby but i cant wait for my next appt already

Re: Getting an unexpected sono visit?
call the doctor. You will be surprized. I have a lot of anxiety my self esp. after my M/C. They tell me all the time to call or come in if i have any doubts or concerns. They rather you have your mind at ease so you are calm for the baby. Thats my OB thinking anyways. Every doc is different im sure. HTH
