Getting DD to sleep longer at night...
my DD is 5 weeks old and DH and I want to work on getting DD to sleep longer at night. Right now she's up every 3-3.5 hours looking for a bottle, but with me going back to work soon, for sanity purposes DH and I need for her to sleep longer at night...preferrably through the night, but i'm not sure if that's too much to ask for right now...
does anyone have any methods for getting their DC to sleep longer at night or getting them to sttn? I am expecting too much at her age?

I think at 5 weeks that might be expecting too much for her age. DD started sttn around 10 weeks and by that I mean 7 hour stretches. At 5 weeks she was still eating every 3-4 hours.

My DD is 6 weeks old and we consider it a good night if she goes 3.5-4 hour stretches. She is up constantly looking to eat. I hear it gets better after 2 months...I hope :)
Good luck

At that age, I don't know if there is anything you can do. I thought that if DD got formula at night before bed she would sleep longer - but she doesn't seem to care I am going back to work in 2 weeks and I plan on going to bed at 7pm every night just to get a good amount of sleep

I'm new to this myself...DS is 3 weeks and EBF and is usually 3-4 hours, but at night will sometimes give me 5. Do you swaddle her? A ped I went to see while pregnant recommended the miracle blanket. GL!

Re: Getting DD to sleep longer at night...
Here's are the things I tried, he's doing on average 5-8 stretch of sleep at night at 2 months. He was waking every 2 hours to eat at 3 weeks.
I don't know if your BF, but if you are try to give formula at night and pump instead, it really helped add 1-2 hours of sleep instantly.
Limit naps during the day to 2 hours, keep TV, radio, lots of noises and keep rooms bright - during day.
At night, swaddle super tight, sometimes I will swaddle on top of a swaddle to makes sure he doesn't break out.
Also he's a gassy baby, and kicking helps him out, so if he seems a little fussy I will swaddle with his feet out.
Sound machine, we used to just use something that played for 45 min and turned off, but now we use something that plays all night
Dream Feeding, you can do a search on here for what it is and how to do it. But basically it saves you time of putting baby back to bed after night feeding. At that age, they sometimes really do need to eat all the time. To be honest I could almost never get this to work right he'd pee, his diaper would bother him, and once the diaper comes off he's wide awake. But when I do get it to work, DS sleeps for 10 hours straight, with 5 hours between feedings.

How old was DC when you gave formula at night? I'm EBF right now, but will introduce BM bottle soon a few times a week. Did formula confuse or interfere with BF at all?

He was 1 week.
Some say nipple confusion is myth, I think it just depends on the baby.
DS didn't care if it was breast or bottle, he was a very hungry baby, he would suck on a chair if milk came out of it. I don't think he ever had any "nipple confusion".
I started with Avent bottles, its what I found in the local pharmacy. IDK if the made any difference. Just once a night before we went to bed I'd give bottle, when he woke I'd BF it was easier when I was sleepy, but he would only sleep 2 hours after BF. So I started giving another formula bottle.
As for Formula interfering with BF, I think it may have for me. IDK, my mother said her supply dwindled by 2 months, so maybe its just genetic. You can do a search for my posts, I've had some BF issues.
