Getting sick after eating...
For the past month; after I eat certain things I get very sick and/or terrible stomach pains...
At first I thought it was dairy related; after drinking a glass of milk (milk in my coffee is fine) having a bowl of ice cream (frozen yogurt is fine) having alot of cheese (cheese on pizza is fine)...
But this week; the pains and stomach issues came after eating hibachi and after eating pasta...
Its getting worse and worse and more and more frequent...I know I probably should go to the Dr; but I feel like I cant pinpoint what triggers it, and therefore the Dr wont be much help.
My dad had gallbladder problems; and had to have his gallbladder removed; but my symptoms are much different then his (and then what is described online)...

Re: Getting sick after eating...
Im not sure...
Lately its happened after eating:
Milk/Chocolate milk Ice cream-vanilla chicken/steak/rice-hibachi Penne all vodka Muenster Cheese
Sometimes its just pain, sometimes its constipation, sometimes its not constipation, and its even brought me to dry heaving...
I guess it could just be fatty foods???? But the pain can be so bad, I cant even stand or see straight....
Im always watching what I eat, and my portions...I dont eat any fast food, or eat cakes, cookies, ice cream (unless its a special occasion)...
IDK

Re: Getting sick after eating...
Everything except the steak/chicken/hibachi seemed to have dairy products although I am not sure how those foods were prepared. Maybe lactose intolerance?

Re: Getting sick after eating...
i'd get to a doctor....
it kinda sounds like IBS or a version of it (colitis, etc.)....
i have IBS and sometimes after i eat, i can literally feel my food 'drop' and have to get to the bathroom right away....other times - i just feel a lot of gas pain & pressure...
though some of those pains sound a LOT like what one of my bff's had when she was having gall bladder issues too...
feel better & get to a doc!

Re: Getting sick after eating...
did you happen to eat something else close to eating hibachi? it does kind out sound like a lactose thing.
It also sound like a severe case of IBS, i can totally sympathize with that... i have it and its awful.

I would think that if this was happening after eating a cheeseburger or Mcdonalds (which I dont eat either)
But this is happening after 1 glass of MILK- 1% milk at that... how much grease and fat could possibly be in that?

Re: Getting sick after eating...
I'm lactose intolerant. It came on pretty suddenly about 2 years ago.
Here's what I found for myself:
- a little milk in my coffee and I'm fine - milk chocolate, ditto - some cheeses have little or no lactose in them, like swiss and cheddar. Cabot cheddar cheese is 100% lactose-free, as is Finlandia Imported Swiss. Other cheeses make me really sick, especially soft cheeses like ricotta. - butter is an absolute NO-NO, ever - ditto with ice cream
As for when / how I get sick:
- It usually takes about 30-40 minutes after eating the dairy to get sick. It has taken as long as 4 or 5 hours though. When I say "sick," it usually doesn't mean, um... trips to the bathroom. It's sharp gas pains and really painful bloating. - What I eat along with the dairy really seems to make a difference. If I have other gassy foods, I get much sicker. The night I had ice cream for my dad's birthday after having some red wine and a chickpea salad appetizer, I was literally sick for 3 days despite taking 6 Lactaid pills. 3 DAYS. On the other hand, on Thanksgiving, after stuffing, turkey, rolls, etc. I was able to eat sweet potato pie (made with butter) and not get sick.
Try a dairy avoidance test. Eliminate all dairy for a day or two - look at labels for breads and packaged food too. Then the next day, drink 2 large glasses of milk. If you get sick, after the milk, you know that that's what did it.
I just had to alter my eating habits a little (no more Carvel, ever ) and buy lots and lots of Lactaid, and I'm fine. It's really common. Good luck!

Re: Getting sick after eating...
It could be your gallbladder. My friend just went through this. I am severely lactose intolerant and have IBS. I sometimes get the same feeling after eating some foods. And not my usual trigger foods. I had a sonogram of my gallbladder and it looked ok. I have to go for blood work next week. Definitely get it checked out. My friend had hers removed and is almost back to 100%...Hope you feel better soon...

Re: Getting sick after eating...
sounds like acid reflux and or gerd. It also could be an ulcer. It could be diverticulitis.
Go to the gastro..they will find out.
Also, if you need a referral let me know. I have a great one in Garden City.
I hope you feel better.
Oh and don't google anything anymore..make the appt.

Re: Getting sick after eating...
theres so many different thiings it could be... all i can suggest if you want to put off going to the MD is try eating smaller meals more often throughout the day and try to stay away from fatty foods, foods that take long to digest (steak) and dairy. FM if you want to know more, i've got tons of digestive issues!
