getting son vaccinated while I'm pregnant
I'm due in 2 weeks with DD and DS is due to have his mmr and varicella vaccine. I called both his old ped (we are currently switching to a new one, and still waiting on a callback from them) and my ob, and both told me different things.
Has anyone had these vaccines given to their child while pregnant, esp as far along as I am?

What did your OB say? I'd trust his advice more in this case.

Re: getting son vaccinated while I'm pregnant
I'm confused what the problem would be? Pregnant women get vaccinated themselves all the time (Flu, Whooping Cough, etc.), why can't they be around kids that get vaccinated?

MMR is a live vaccine and it does shed in small amounts from the child after they are vaccinated... people who are immuno compromised are told to avoid being around children after they get live vaccines like that. Not sure about pregnant women.

OB said wait, Ped said no need to wait.

Re: getting son vaccinated while I'm pregnant
I never had chicken pox and do not show tiiters (even after the vaccine) so I was told to wait by the pediatrician and ob.
Eta, I would listen to your ob.

This. DC1 got the MMR vaccine while I was pregnant, but I still had plenty of time before I was due so I wasn't concerned.
Being that you are so close to your due date, and the MMR and chicken pox are live so your DC will be carrying it for a short amount of time, I would consider waiting.

MMR is fine: you will pass immunity to your newborn & you are immune (hopefully). We got this when I had a brand new baby in house. Ped cleared it.
With varicella, we waited. Got both kids done at the same visit.

Yeah, me too. Truly not because of fear that you will pick up something from your DS. I would be concerned that if he gets a fever or some kind of reaction, you don't need that stress right now.

I would wait. Since 1 of the 2 doctor opinions is to wait, why take the chance? My gut would say no as well since they are live viruses.

Edited to clarify: 3 issues here: 1. Getting him vaccinated while YOU are pregnant (and slightly immunocompromised) 2. Getting him vaccinated with a NEWBORN in the house 3. Risks of having him wait for vaccine (esp with measles)
If YOU are immune to MMR (your OB should have your info on titers), you could get him immunized now, but can also wait until your newborn is born because you will pass immunity to newborn for a while (about a year). That's called passive immunity.
If YOU are immune to chicken pox, have your kid get THAT because a newborn will not have immunity to chicken pox. So, the better time, if you had chicken pox is NOW. If you did not have chicken pox, don't get your kid immunized because catching it in pregnancy can be very bad.
If you are a person who does not show positive titers, even though you are immunized, you should not get him immunized now & not during the newborn period either.
Best yet... ASK your OB what your titers are & why he/she suggests you wait. ASK what the risks will be with a newborn in the house.

getting son vaccinated while I'm pregnant
DD had both the MMR and Varicella shots while I was pregnant. Both the OB and ped said it was fine since I am immune.
We had no issues.

Both my DC's got the varicella yesterday. I am 16 weeks pregnant. I am immune to it via bloodwork. The issue is because it's a live vaccine it could be compromising to a newborn so I wanted to make sure my older two got it way before the baby was born.
