Getting to LIRR from JFK/JetBlue
Anyone have any experiences with the AirTran or whatever it's called (the service that takes you from JFK/JetBlue terminal maybe?) to Jamaica train station? I have family flying in from OOT next week and would love to have them try this, but have no clue how/where/how much, etc.
THANK YOU!!

They would take it to Jamaica station and it's 5 per one ride, then you get out and the lirr is right there next to it.
It comes every 10 minutes.

Re: Getting to LIRR from JFK/JetBlue
It is COMPLETELY worth it to me.
However, if they are coming with a ton of luggage, they may want to get a taxi/town car. Also, if the plane comes in at rush hour, there might be an issue getting a seat at Jamaica.

Re: Getting to LIRR from JFK/JetBlue
easy, worth it...going in during peak hours is no fun cause you have bags and commuters to worry about...off peak, its easy and quick

Re: Getting to LIRR from JFK/JetBlue
6:30 PM isn't that bad. By the time they get there it will be about 7:00. I would def. do that!

Re: Getting to LIRR from JFK/JetBlue
If their flight gets in at 6:30 they probably won't get their bags and get to the Air Tran before 7. Maybe later. That would make sense. Lately Jet Blue's terminals are under construction and have been nuts to navigate.
So they would probably catch a 7:30 train from Jamaica is my guess. Hopefully, its timed right where they can catch a train right away. Depending on what station they are going to they could end up waiting 30 minutes for the LIRR. Look at the time tables on the website.

It's not bad.
You get out of the train, go up the escalator, hang a left (or right if you are facing east), go down the corridor and BAM it's there.
The same thing applies going back!
Definitely worth it!
