Getting Ultrascreen on Tuesday
I'm getting my ultrascreen on Tuesday, and I am kind of nervous. I am over 35 and I have one cousin on my mom's sided that had a baby with down syndrome.
Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

Good Luck. I did alot of research on the ultrascreen because I had not so great results(everything turned out OK). There are 3 types of Down Syndrome and there is only one extremely rare type that is hereditary. Basically if your family member has trisomy 21(what most people think of when they hear down syndrome), then that form is not hereditary and you have no more increased chance than anyone else. Maybe that can ease your mind a little. Good Luck!

No problem..I have a first cousin with Down Syndrome so I was very nervous when I got high-risk results. We met with a genetic counselor who explained how rare the inherited form is and that the "more traditional" form (also the less functioning form) is not hereditary. This test caused me so much undue stress that I am going to refuse it in future pregnancies.

I am having mine on Tuesday as well. All you can do is a prayer and know that it will turn out the way that god wants it. Dont claim anything but good health.
