Getting your hair Dyed
So all my books and My Dr said no hair dye in the first trimester... I have pretty dark hair and usually just get a few (like 6) highlights in a honey color to frame my face for the summer. I will be in my 2nd trimester in 2 weeks and was going to make a hair appt. for the beginning of May. Has anyone else done anything to their hair during their pregnancy??
The Dr says highlights are pretty safe bc the dye doesnt really stay on your scalp in stays in the foil.
Any opinions?

Re: Getting your hair Dyed
I think it's a personal decision really. I have brown hair and I get really gray, if I didn't color it I would probably be totally gray by the end of this pregnancy. When i started my 2nd trimester I had my hair dyed brown. Some people are for it some are against it. I had to do it.

I had highlights done, I think it's fine, but like others said it is a personal decision.

I think it is a personal decision. I am waiting until after the baby is born to dye it again.

ITA, but everyone is different. My real hair color is brown and beeing dying and highlighting it blonde for years. I asked my Doc and he said coloring and highlights are fine, but if it makes me feel better to wait till after 12 weeks. I did and colored it twice already. My next appt is this weekend. This will be the last time coloring till the baby is here. I'll be fine till next month anyway.

Re: Getting your hair Dyed
I asked my doctor about my highlights and she said it was fine as long as I was in my second trimester and the salon was well ventilated.
I went in my 15th week.

Re: Getting your hair Dyed
My doc said dying your hair is ok. Hilites are also ok because they don't touch your scalp. If you dont want to breath in the fumes at the hair salon use a mask so your not breathing in the chemicals.

Re: Getting your hair Dyed
i had highlights done the DAY before we got our BFP....the doctor was not worried.
i use a hair dye that is peroxide free - if that makes you feel any better! I haven't dyed it yet - but will as my shower is getting closer.....

They say highlights are fine b/c they don't touch your scalp - My Dr. told me to wait until after the 1st tri - just to be safe -

Re: Getting your hair Dyed
Highlights are fine -- I had mine done as early as 8 weeks into the pregnancy.
Dye is a different story. Depends on the type of dye used. If theres no peroxide in it, its safe. If there is, you would be better off waiting until the 2nd trimester.
