Getting your newborn to sleep..
Do you rock them to sleep after every feeding? I am finding that mostly after the nightime feedings he needs to be rocked back to sleep for a while. He is either overtired or just fighting the sleep and it takes about an hour to get him into a deep sleep and then i can finally put him down.

Re: Getting your newborn to sleep..
That is a habit I would try to break ASAP.....
We hold/held DS for a little due to reflux (had to be upright after a bottle) and would put him in his crib partially awake.
I was such a dummy because I had a mobile and didn't use it for the first few weeks, and after the lightbulb went off, bedtime was soooooo much easier.
Also try swaddling of some form.....

Re: Getting your newborn to sleep..
my DS seems to to fall back asleep nursing at night, but I do keep the lights super low (I had DH put a dimmer in his room) and we don't talk much to try to keep him more mellow i also agree with the swaddling

Re: Getting your newborn to sleep..
another thing we did in the beginning was use low music or white noise....he had a really hard time settling himself even if he was sleepy if it was totally quiet and dark----i totally forgot, but when we first brought him home we had very dim lights on for him all night and played quiet music

Every once in a blue Kristina needs to be rocked....
I try not to do that too much though... I do have to hold her up b/c of the reflux, but most of the time after her nighttime feeding, she is out cold...
Sometimes when I lay her into her bassinet she wakes a little.... I just sit next to it, and shhhhhhh her... sometimes rock the bassinet a little, and she is out cold!
