Getting your uterus checked..

Hi Ladies,

After this last MC, the DR brought up getting my uterus checked to make sure there were no abnormalities.. has anyone gotten this done? Just curious of what the procedure entails. Dr feels that it may be something to check, but the procedure is uncomfortable. Just not sure if I should go this route yet.. DR was ok with me trying progesterone, but I don't want to keep going through this, so I don't want to miss someting..

Have you ever had this done? Any info you can share would be appreciated!

Thank you!

my dr ordered an MRI of my uterus after I healed from my D&C last time, but I know there are other tests as well. Is that what they meant? Chat Icon

Re: Getting your uterus checked..

Yes maybe the hysteroscopy or an hsg? Some people have uterine abnormalities - I did. I had a large setptum down te middle of my uterus. The prob with that is the septum is made if of thick tissue and it doesn't have much blood supply so if an egg attaches anywhere on he septum it won't survive and you will lose the pregnancy. so it can cause miscarriages and/or infertility.

Have u had a few miscarrriages? I only had one and found the septum after.

Have u been tryin long? I don't know but may be worth looking into esp if you have had multiple losses.

Thank you for the responses! I have had a few losses, but in between had my son with no issues. I just had a MC in OCt and then had one just this past month. This last one was very early-do you know if I had issues if i would be able to get pregnant at all?

Just so torn, maybe I should get it done then... I was thinking of trying progesterone first, but I just don't want to keep going through this.. :(

Thanks again!

Well with both of those things there is no harm in doing them. The Hysteroscopy really soothed my nerves about what is going on in there...

Re: Getting your uterus checked..

I had a hysteroscopy this past summer. It was not bad at all. They did it in an outpatient facility and I was put under for it (they thought they were going to have to clean away left over tissue in there but it seemed to have disappeared before the procedure). There was no recovery really needed, just tired from the anesthesia.

It made me feel better knowing that my uterus was checked and we knew that was not causing my issues.
