G.I. SPECIALIST question about reflux and further testing for

possible malrotation? has anyone had to do this test for their DC? they have to drink barium and take an XRAY?the G.I. specialist wrote me a script to rule that out. but i dont know what to do..im scared. has anyones dc had this malrotation? or taken this test for it? is it painful? i ran out of the office overwhelmed adn didnt ask questions. im trying to help my d.c. with his reflux. but they want to rule this out just in case. thanks for any help!

Not sure if my DS was testing for malrotation, but he had the test similar to the one that you are talking about. They give him a bottle of barium solution and while he is driinking they put him in various positions and xray it to see how much he was refluxing. The test really isnt that great because some days babies reflux more than others. so basically if your dc isnt refluxing that day the test doesnt really mean squat

Not for malrotation but my DS had to have a similar ultrasound done to test for pyloric stenosis which he had and had to have surgery for.
