Gift basket advice for Cancer patient

The chief attorney in my office, a beautiful, beyond intelligent woman, in her early 40's, with 2 school aged children, was just diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to her lungs and back Chat Icon Chat Icon

She just got out of the hospital and I want to send her something, but really am at a loss as to what I should send. She's obviously not feeling her best right now, and I'm sure what I should send her.

Any ideas?

That's tough, anything food-related could be tricky... my mom had chemo years back and all she could keep down was Ensure and a few juices.Chat Icon What about a gift cert to an online grocery like fresh direct or peapod? Not sure what budget you're working on, but if you could get a few people to chip in a "maid for a day" might be very helpful? That's really sweet of you to send her something, regardless!!

Pajama Gram (pajamagram.com). I've sent these to new moms, sick friends... they've all loved it. It comes in a cute hat box with a lavendar sachtel and a "do not disturb" sign.

I agree, for example I know in most oncology wards you can't bring patients fresh fruit.

If she's going to be homebound for a while I'd find out her interest and send her something related, whether it be books, sewing, movies, etc. Something to help her pass the time.

One of my coworkers recently went through chemo and radiation. We put together a basket that had comfy pj's, some puzzle books and trivia books to keep him entertained during his sessions, some DVD's to watch, I can't remember what else I put in there, but it was a lot of stuff to keep his mind elsewhere when he had to get his chemo and radiation treatments.
