gift canister with bake mix and rubber maid bakeware?

We got one of those cute gift canisters for Christmas and inside is lemon muffin mix.
I am baking them now but just thinking...I remember a story about a kid that had old pancake mix and died..something about the mold in the flour ..This bag of mix does not have a date.... I guess if it taste funny don't eat or don't even take the chance?


Also rubbermaid baking trays - good or bad experiences with them? it always smells like rubber when i bake with them...? ruins my appetite!

sorry I don't know about the mix but I remember reading that the kid only died because he had a specific allergy to something in the outdated mix. Not everyone that eats outdated mix will get that reaction. As far as the rubber pans go, I use them all the time and have never had a problem. I actually prefer them.
