Gift for God Son's Baptism

My friend gave me the honor of being her son's godmother. So now what would be a good gift for his baptism? Jewlery? Or is that for a girl only? TIA

P.S. - any tips on how to be a super godmother would be appreciated as well

You can ask the mom that you would like to buy the christening outfit (outfit, socks, shoes...) and a jewlery gift like a religious charm (you can choose a childrens size charm or an adult one) or a bracelet. You can also do a money gift with one of the above....

My son's godmother bought his christening outfit and gave him a necklace and charm. His godfather gave him a money gift. My DH is a godfather and gave his godson an adult necklace and cross and $100 money gift.

I think it's important that you be in the child's life. Seeing the baby as much as you can is being a great godmother I'm not close with mine, when I was younger it was more like here is your gift because it's your birthday or christmas and I'm your godparent but I never really hung out with them and got to know them.

My DS' godmother bought his outfit and gave him money. His godfather bought him a beautiful cross for when he gets older.

DH and I were asked to be our nephews godparents.

We gave him a check ($250) for his college fund. And my sister wanted him to have a keepsake box. So I picked one up from Things Remembered and had it personalized.

In my family, the Godmother buys the outfit and the Godfather buys the cross and chain. Of course, this is different for everyone as not eveyone follows this. Check with the mother of the baby and see if she knows what the Godfather is getting. Better yet, is there any way that you can contact the Godfather yourself? I'm not sure of the relationship you have with him.

My sister bought my DS his baptismal outfit. She was also very generous and gave DS a savings bond.
