Gift for newborn
Hmmmm... a good friend of mine is being induced tomorrow, and I don't know what the protocol is for getting her a gift. This is her second child, but she's also the one who organized my shower for Alex, so I feel like I somehow need to return the favor. She has a registry with a variety of items, but how much is appropriate to spend? And what about when I visit in the hospital? Should I just bring a small gift, and send the large gift to her house?

Re: Gift for newborn
I am not sure about all the questions you have - but one of my favorite gifts I received after Ali was born was a hooded towel from PotteryBarnKids, with her name on it. Let me see if I can find a link Hooded Towel

Re: Gift for newborn
Sure a small gift like a stuffed animal is good. What I would really loved is maybe bake her a few things or cook a few meals for her or order some food for her and drop it off. That was the most appreciated when we came home. Also I loved a huge box of wipes and a huge box of pampers!

Good ideas! Marcie - we received that gift for Alex, a little pink bunny with her name, and I LOVED IT. I think I'll bring a small gift to the hospital, maybe purchase one of the bigger items on her registry, and send over a few meals...

Re: Gift for newborn
I would say $30-50 is a fair amount for a second baby. If you want to do something extra special maybe you could bring her something small to the hospital as well.

I don't think you are under any obligation to get her a gift AND bring something to the hospital.
If you want to, then I woudl bring something for her other child so he/she doesn't feel neglected. The new baby won't notice anyway. Plus its one less thing for the mom to pack up when she leaves.

Re: Gift for newborn
I'm a big fan of giving Kaloos as gifts, you are supposed to sleep with them for a while and then give them to the baby as comforters...I just got one for my friend Pam and her newborn daughter Tallulah! They are incredibly soft, like heavenly feathers woven by elves out of the hair from a unicorns fetlocks!!! Image Attachment(s):

I got these for Molly and I thought both were great gifts...
The first is from Bloomingcookies.com and the second from Babystyle.com

One of the best gifts we received was an Edible Arrangements when we got home from the hospital.
