Gift Idea for 9 year-old boy

We do a Secret Santa in DH's family and DH picked his nephew who is 9 years-old and in the 4th grade. I can always ask his mom, but we do try to keep it "secret"

I am looking for gift ideas in the $35-$50 range. He loves sports so I know I can always get him a sports-related sweatshirt, etc., but was looking for some other ideas.

I'm not up to date on what boys that age are into!

My son also likes experiment kits, there are different types like CSI, Mythbusters, Disgusting Science, etc. They're all usually in the same area of the store.

All these things would have items in your price range.

game stop gift card or dicks sporting goods gift card are things SO DS asked for and he is 8.5 yrs old.
