Gift idea for young couples
We are doing Hanukkah end of the month with my family. My nieces and nephews are all in serious relationships now and we'll be getting together soon. I'm not 100% sure everyone is coming, but what do I get them?
I am closest with my niece's BF who is very personable. He has been to our house and brought wine, gifts for my son's, and just very generous. He's moving to Jersey City soon so was thinking a nice GC to a nice restaurant there. I think they've been together 7 - 8 months now. SHe's almost 22 and he's 25 so they are young.
My other niece has also been with her BF over a year now. They are both about 22. He's very shy so not much of a talker so not even sure what to get him or them. Then my 2 nephews who are 19 and 17 also bring their GF's around. First I will find out if they will all be there for Hanukkah and then I guess go from there. So many more people! LOL
ETA - this doesn't even include my younger niece and nephew who are 13 and 9. All from my sister. LOL! So that's 6 nieces and nephews (3 and 3) and add in 4 significant others. LOL Let's just hope they are all not coming. LOL

Re: Gift idea for young couples
Can you do a grab bag and pick out the names who are attending so you don’t have so many gifts to buy?

It's weird going from giving them all gifts to now 4 more and doing grab bag. I get what you're saying though. I think since there are younger ones too they will all get. Plus my 2 boys get from my sister and bIL.

Amazon gift card
That's what I was thinking of getting the older nieces and nephews, but then there's 4 more to get for. I'll ask my sister I guess. THanks

Ahh ok I get that too. We stopped buying for the adults and just got for the kids as it got too much. I wouldn't go crazy though and maybe gift cards are a good idea.

This drives me nuts in my family. At some point you have to stop or you'll be buying gifts for your 40 year old nieces and nephews. I am not a gift person though so maybe it's just me. Holiday gifts are all about the kids in my view.

MILs family stopped giving gifts once the kids get to be college aged. My family and FILs family do a gift exchange as well because it got to be too many people.

Gift idea for young couples
I would personally go with a restaurant gift card so they can go out together as a couple.

Yeah, I think we're gonna have to get to this too. My kids are just 12 and 10. My sister's kids go from 22 down to 9.

You can also get them something smaller that everyone needs and might not necessarily buy for themselves - I've gotten great umbrellas, gloves, scarves, etc from family as gifts.

Gift idea for young couples
I have this situation as well where I have older nieces with BFs and younger nieces/nephews. I still give my nieces and nephews what I would typically give them and then do something smaller for the BFs. Last year, I gave my nieces' BFs Starbuck gift cards and travel coffee mugs bc they both started jobs and wee commuting to work for the first time. I don't think you have to give them big gifts. When I started dating my DH, his family just gave me token gifts. Once we were engaged, they gave us a gift together like a gc to a restaurant. Once we had kids, gifts were for kids only.

It’s true. It’s gotten so costly. Every year we say we will stop giving the older ones (full adults) and we end up still giving them.

Gift idea for young couples
I would give them something small. Cozy socks, a warm fuzzy throw blanket, cool umbrella, ice scrapers with the glove attached, bottle of wine or liquor that you know they like. I get a lot of gifts from Uncommon goods because they are unique and you can find ones that are not too expensive.
The first year I brought my husband around, I think my aunt gave him an Disney ornament because everyone knows he loves Disney.

This is how I feel. Even though my nieces and nephews are young, my 4 siblings all have a lot of children and somehow everyone is buying for birthdays AND Christmas. I am so over it. Half the time they gift my son junk that he never plays with and it just gets donated.
Thank god we stopped exchanging gifts among siblings. My mom was so upset by this but it was honestly just too much.

We exchange with older nieces and nephews as well who are in that range. Big hits have been Yeti products, Tommy Bahama beach chairs and gift cards for things they can do - movies, brewery visit, etc.

Love this! Thanks! Yes, DD GC's are perfect.

I usually do Amazon gift cards, for those I don't know what to get or when I'm not sure what they like.

Yes it becomes a lot for us during the holidays too. Between our nieces and nephews plus on DH's side we buy for his cousins' kids. I honestly wish we would just do a secret santa of some sort to cut down on the spending and not to mention the junky gifts that end up in the trash.

My siblings in law also have a bunch of kids and I have one whose birthday is around Christmas, meaning she gets one crappy joint gift while I’m spending a mortgage payment on gifts throughout the year.
We don’t exchange with the adults but if we did I’d be giving coupons for vasectomies because I can’t afford this anymore.
