Gift ideas/thoughts for late term miscarriage
Can anyone give me any advice for my bro and SIL who had a miscarriage today? I want to get them something meaningful! My SIL was 7.5 months along and will be delivering the baby tomorrow. I sent them the site with the pictures. I asked a friend who had a late term miscarriage and she gave suggestions but a lot of them are catholic suggestions and we are Jewish. TIA!

Sorry to crash.. First of all, for your brother and SIL. This is such devastating news!
I had a loss at 4 1/2 months and friends of hours got a tree planted in our son's memory. We named our son, so we also got a card with his name imprinted on it telling us the tree was planted in his memory. It was really special.

I am so sorry for your family. I think planting a tree in memory would be a lovely thing to do at this difficult time.

Re: Gift ideas/thoughts for late term miscarriage
I'm so sorry
I've given forget-me-not necklaces from La Belle Dame to my family members who have had late pregnancy losses. (One lost her baby at 32weeks and the other lost her twins at 21 & 24 weeks.)
They really appreciated it and like that it's something they can carry with them always. I know one of them has never taken it off.

Re: Gift ideas/thoughts for late term miscarriage
can you get something for his/her hand and foot prints? im sure they will cherish those down the line. i know i would want to have them.
also, someone posted the fingerprint jewelry. maybe they will want to get the baby's fingerprint and you can make your SIL a necklace?

Re: Gift ideas/thoughts for late term miscarriage
A tree to plant (the tree my aunt planted after the death of her daughter is very meaningful to them)
A garden statue of a small child or a garden stone with a saying on it (this is always something I have seenthat people would send to families when I was at work)
if they choose to take the photos, a beautiful album for them to put them in.
you know to call me if you need anything

Re: Gift ideas/thoughts for late term miscarriage
I an so very sorry for your family's loss. My prayers are with your brother and SIL.
I like the ideas of naming a star, fingerprint jewelry, and hand/foot prints. I was also thinking a memory box may be a nice idea. My friend had a late term m/c last year and was given a box at the hospital to place momentos of the baby (photos, hand prints, foot prints, etc...) my friend has told me that she is comforted by this box and takes it out whenever she ned a moment to remember the child she so sadly lost.

ETA: I wanted to add, I wear a ring with the birth stone from my original due date. I'm not sure how she would feel about this but my DH and I picked this out together and it's really special to me. I like that's it's something tangible I could wear in remembrance of him.
