Re: Gift Question....
A blanket that my grandmother had knitted when I got engaged. She was holding onto it for when I got pregnant, and unfortunately passed away 6 months after I was married, but when my aunt gave it to me at my shower I lost it. I have it tucked away until Sarah is old enough to take better care of it since it's so special to me.

Re: Gift Question....
Handmade ones No, really! Those are the types of gifts that you keep forever, and always remind you of the person that took the time to make something for your child.
Also, DH's grandmother gave us a little pillow that DH's mother had from when she was a baby, and used until she died DH's grandmother had handmade the cover for the pillow too.

Re: Gift Question....
My grandma saved my baby blanket and had it cleaned and presented it to me at my baby shower with the most meaningful note attached: "Just a little plaid blanket, small and thin, but it warmed our Danielle from toes to chin. In a quiet moment, I packed it away, hoping to unfold it someday. Weeks, months, years flew by with pride, you were a baby, toddler, teen, then bride. As you carry our great-grandchild, sweet and new, I give this little blanket once more to you."

A sweater and 2 prs of booties my Nana made before she passed away. I wasnt even married or PG when she made them but she made them and put them aside for me with my name on the box...and my Mom found them and put them aside for me and surprised me at my shower (man did I cry my eyes out).
