Well since I have a son & nephew who both turned 7 in the past week, I can say that a Lego set would definitely work. Does he have a game system? If so a gift card to Gamestop might be ideal. A pogo stick was a hit with my son last year and he still loves it. The one he got was in your price range at TRU.

How about an age appropriate board game? You can always give a gift receipt in case he has whatever you get. You should check to see if they make an age appropriate Scene It game. That is always so much fun.

My stepson turned 7 in September and is obsessed with anything Bakugan or Star Wars. He also loves Lego Star Wars stuff! HTH!
