Gifts for 5.5-6.5 year old girls
Thinking ahead to the holidays and a few friends kids birthdays, I am just wondering what the heck should I get everyone? I never have many great ideas and am kind of a minimalist so I dread picking gifts for holidays and birthdays. (especially when people ask me what my kids want/need and i just want to rudely scream money but don't lol). And my friends, their kids already own EVERYTHING. even special, personalized gifts. It leaves me blank. I already do a lot of books and art supplies. Just wondering what else I could think of. What did your kids like at this age? It seems like they have everything already.
Please give me all of your best gift ideas for 5.5-6.5 year old girls. GO!

I hate toys and other clutter items. I think experience gifts are nice. Gift cards to the movies, museums, etc.

Dd's favorites are usually art related. Spin art, aqua beads, scratch art, paint. For dd's 5th i got her pipe cleaners, pom poms, paint sticks, buttons, googly eyes, etc. MIL also did a pretty box filled with art stuff like glitter, stick on jewels, scrap book paper. She loves it all!
She also likes science experiment sets, robot making kits, sphero, magna tiles, legos.
Board games and books are my go to gifts. Dd also had subscriptions to highlights and ranger rick jr. magazines.

I agree that experiences are great. You could even do a theme gift - aquarium tickets with an underwater scene jigsaw puzzle, ocean-themed craft, and book. Or tix to the planetarium with a telescope and space books. This way there's a little something for the child to open as well.
Otherwise, I know you mentioned crafts and books, and I do think that's the way to go with this age group. There's so many awesome craft kits in the craft stores! I want to do them!
I also agree with pp re: science and magazine subscriptions. At that age, my nephew got into cooking, and he got a kids cookbook and cooking supplies.
ETA: and board games too!

Magazine gift subscriptions are good. We just started getting Ranger Rick and DD also likes the national geographic kids.
Gift cards are nice - barnes and noble and michaels are favorites
DD LOVES all things American Girl and so do her friends so i have started buying outfits and accessories and stuff when things are on sale so i have them on hand for gifts.

My 5yo loves arts and crafts so you can't go wrong there. And gift cards to pick out her own things. Makes her feel like a grown up
