Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
Im thinking ahead I know - but x-mas is really coming up fast......
What did you buy your child's nursery school teacher? Did you give her money as a token of appreciation for the holidays? how much? a gift? Also - did you give the teacher's asst the same...? TIA

Re: Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
I usually get them gift cards to Target. I also add something small to it. Last year I got Vera Bradley umbrellas on clearance from the website. This year I got the 50% off Stuff and Save at Old Navy the other day so I got them all fleece throws for $5.
I do give the assistant teacher the same amount.

My mom used to bake chocolate chip cookies for our teachers every year in elementary school. She never bought anything.

I was going to do gift cards...but DD's teacher is a Mickey fanatic! So I got her a lenox Mickey ornament. I spent about $30. I am going to get the assistant a gift card to CVS or something for the same amount.

We do a large class gift. It is $30 per child for all 3 teachers. The head teacher gets a majority of the money then the rest is split between the 2 assistants.

Ditto, except in our school they usually do a cash gift, believe it or not. I can't complain, I get it, too

Re: Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
I usually get them an AMEX gift card and for the two teachers in his class a little extra gift. Last year I scored cute little change purses at the Coach outlet for them.
Barnes & Noble has a magazine subscription gift that I was thinking of giving out. I think there are 20 magazines the recipient can select from and it's under $20. A guy in my office gave those out last year as gifts.

Re: Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
DC's are in daycare, but this is what I plan on doing- my DS is in the waddler room- 2 teachers- $50 gift card each (AMEX) DD is in the infant room- 2 main caregivers will get the same as DS' teachers. There is another woman who is the 4 yr. old teacher but who is in the infant room 2 mornings a week from 8-11, so I will get her a $25 AMEX gift card. I also plan to send in an edible arrangement for the staff and the director.

Re: Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
I give everyone the same amount because everyone at DD's school is a teacher, no one is an assistant. She has 5 teachers. I did Starbucks gift cards last year when Costco had the 5 pack where you basically get one free and then Vera Bradley little ID wallets that I got for $5

Re: Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
My DS goes to preschool 2 mornings a week. He has a teacher and one assistant. I was planning to give them gift cards...both the same amount. Probably $25 each. when I worked in a preschool, GC were my favorite gift! There's only so many candles, lotions, note pads, ornaments etc. that one person needs...although still very much appreciated

Re: Gifts for nursery school teacher and teacher's asst for X Mas?
I'm doing Target gift cards for both the teacher and the aide in DS's nursery school. Who can't find something to buy in Target, lol? Starbucks is a great safe bet too. I'm not doing any actual gifts, like someone else said I figure there's only so many trinkets these ladies can handle!

I agree, the daycare does, but not the workers...:( At my daycare, the assistant teachers and most other staff (floaters/breakers) make under $10/hr, and get sent home when they have low numbers, further cutting back their checks. We give gifts to the teachers and those that work with our DC's - last year there were 11 people! We do mostly edible things that I make and little gifts, as we don't have the budget for big gifts. I write a personal note to each of them, and have the boys draw a little something on it. We give the main office cookies. If I could give more, I would. The amount of work they do, and how they care for our boys is amazing and we couldn't be more grateful.

yeah but how much of it do you think the teachers actually make??? i used to teach preschool and trust me, i wasnt in it for the money...i think i was making about $38 for each class session (about 2.5-3 hrs and i had about 16 kids in my class)
my students would usually all chip in an get me a gift card and then my assistant would get one for half of what mine was.
