Girl Mommies: Dress at the church for christening?
So DD's godmother just asked what time I want her to come over on Saturday to start dressing DD and I told her I thought we would dress her at church. Is this what everyone did?
If you dressed DD at home, how did you strap her into the carseat and not totally wrinkle the dress?

We dressed my daughter at home. There really wasn't a place at the church to dress her. Her dress did not wrinkle in the car seat, it was also a short trip to the church.

I will be dressing my DD at home. I don't think there is really anywhere to dress her at the church. It won't be that long in the car anyway so I doubt she will get to wrinkled. Plus it will probably be more comfortable for the baby to dress them at home. JMO

We dressed her in the car at the church. That might not work if it is raining though!
I had the "bottoms" on with a shirt and I just took off the shirt and put the gown on.
There is NO way I could have buckled her in with her gown on.

Same here. There would have been no time at the church to do it since there was a mass right before.

Re: Girl Mommies: Dress at the church for christening?
I am embarassed to say that we dressed DS in the trunk of our SUV. I was so paranoid about him spitting up and ruining his outfit and it seemed to be only reasonable solution. Plus I was able to have both godparents their to do it (godfather lived 5 minutes from us and godmother would have had to go from queens to LI then to astoria).

Re: Girl Mommies: Dress at the church for christening?
I dressed Marron at the church. Even though it was a short ride, her dress was all cotton, and very long, and I did not want it wrinkled. She also had a big spitting up problem, and I too was worried about that. We got to the church, and just dressed her in the vestibule. She was only 2 months old, so I held her and DH helped me put the dress on. It was not hard at all.
ETA: I had her shoes & socks on her already. All she needed was the slip and the dress.
