Girl name opinions
If we have a  we are naming her Sofia Maria after my mom and grandmother.
We were planning on calling her Sofia and using Maria as the middle name. My mom mentioned yesterday that if we have a , she would prefer to call her Sofia-Maria - not just Sofia. Now it's gotten me thinking that it may be nice to refer to her with both names as well.... do you think this is too much?

Honestly not loving the rhymey-ness of it so I wouldn't call her by both names.
And while I'm being honest, why do people insist on offering opinions on what THEY would like to call other people's children? I understand it's your mom, but it's needs to be what you want, KWIM???????

If you make her first name Sophia and her middle name Maria, people still have the option of calling her by both names.
My step-mom's name is Anne Marie (first name Anne, middle name Marie) and TONS of people call her Anne Marie (like Annemarie). I've gone back and forth.
So even if you don't hyphenate it, you can still call her that (or your mom can). But at least without the hyphen she has more options as far as what she prefers to be referred to as.

I dont think it really matters. I love the way Sophia Maria sounds but even if its Sophia-Maria as a first name or Sophia Marie as a first and middle you can call her Sophia Maria. Does that make sense? My firend is Evamarie and my other is Eva Marie and we call them both just Eva. So its really up to you and what you want to call her.

This is just my opion I like it as a separate first and middle name. I think with the hyphen is seems like a really big name.

I like separate names.
I know when I was in trouble as a kid my mother would yell my first and middle name. She meant business and instilled fear in my heart.

I think thats fine!
I have two first names- Mary Elisabeth but my grandma is the only one that calls me that- everyone else uses the shortened version... I always loved that she called me that- it was a special bond between us

I like it both ways to be totally honest but I'm sure no matter what you wind up naming her you will come up with some type of cute little nickname at some point anyhow!!!

That's so sweet! I think that would be really special for my LO & mom as well.
The more I think about it, the more I agree with everyone else.... If it's a girl, we will call her Sofia. I will leave it up to my mom to call her what she prefers.
