Girls taking Progesterone
I am still really nervous. I am 8w1d and have been taking progesterone since I was 4w pregnant. My levels have only went from 4 to 7.7. Its still dangerously low and to be honest, my Dr was surprised to see a heartbeat last week. He thought my #s were too low to sustain a pregnancy. He said everything looks fantastic, so thats a good thing but I am still so worried.
I guess I am just wondering, did anyone have a successful pregnancy with low progesterone #s in the first tri. I really just need to make it to the 12 week mark bc then the placenta will take over.

Re: Girls taking Progesterone
Mine was 7.9 and my RE said he has seen many successful natural pregnancies go the entire time with a progestone that low and not to worry. Obviously I'm not doctor, but that made me feel a lot better.
My progesterone last week was like 11.4 or something like that so my perinatologist put me on oral support (I am also on Crinone, but that doesn't show in blood) so I'll see what my progesterone is today. But I'm 11 weeks and everything seems to be fine!

Re: Girls taking Progesterone
Obbbbviously I'm not a doctor.. but I believe progesterone in oil (shots) are much more potent than the suppositories.
Yea they are intramuscular and a pain (literally) but I wonder if that would help kick your progesterone into gear!
Like I said.. I'm not doctor.. just have more experience with this than I wish I did!

ITA with PennyCat. My doctor said the PIO is more potent and effective and he puts all his patients on it. No one likes having to do shots in the butt, but in the end the result is worth it.

Re: Girls taking Progesterone
i agree with everything that has been said so far. it all depends what kind of progesterone you are on. PIO is the only one that raises your blood serum progesterone. if you are on suppositories or oral progesterone you wont see that in the bloodwork as much but that doesnt mean your body isnt getting what it needs.
the number does seem pretty low - usually it should be over 10 at the very least. however as long as you are on supplementation you are doing all that you can. good luck!

Re: Girls taking Progesterone
I did! I think I stopped taking the medicine right before my 2nd trimester. I have a healthy, beautiful boy & now with this pregnancy my levels were fine.

Ditto, can you ask about switching to PIO shots?
