I use a 1 1/4 inch barrel curling iron on the hottest setting and then I will pin the curl with a bobby pin after curling and won't let the pins out until they are cool..

I also use hair spray to hold the curl.. I've tried every hairspray out there but the tresseme in the green lettering is the best for me.. great hold without weighing down the curl..

I've also had great luck with hot air curlers..but again the key is keeping the curl in its place until it cools down.

I swear by Clairols Lock n Roll curlers..Its not sold in stores anymore..

The texture of my hair may be different from yours, but I wear my hair in loose curls almost everyday {my hair is naturally straight}. The secret for me is pin curling my hair the night before with bobby bins. I just don't have time in the morning and having the curls set overnight makes it look like I just left the salon.
