Girls, we CANNOT find a crib...

I thought going to Sukons would be a good bet-- since everyone said they had a great selection, etc.

The issue is we need to get a crib in a certain color family to match/go with existing furniture. It just can't clash. And the color we need, is more of a natural/blond wood-- which apparently is not "en vogue" these days. And, in the cribs that come in this color-- we don't like at all. We have a few contenders, but swatches are not available, etc.

The other thought we had yesterday is to get like an accent color-- a red, or a green.. but, again-- we are probably going to have a similar issue of the natural color-- finding something we like, in the right shades and seeing a swatch.

I thought this would be SO easy since we are just getting one piece of furniture-- and it's turning into a real PITA!

I suggest you start an online hunt... that way you can at least choose a list of 'blond only' and speed through the cribs....

but then you'll either have to find the crib in person, or depend upon customer reviews for an indication of quality. (frankly, I did the latter, and had no problem, but it's definitely a risk...)

I am pretty sure I saw some natural/blond cribs at the BBB in Westbury (I was registering with my cousin) a few weeks ago!

there is one at BBB we like, we need to bring a drawer of the dresser we have and see what it looks like. We also like a Munire crib-- and need to find a swatch to see how that would go.

The pieces of furniture will be on opposite sides of the room, in a 12 x 12 room-- but, it still needs to blend well.

It's just so annoying!!

at Behrs they now have a few beautiful lines that come in "color"
i know youre not finding out what youre having, but they have a beautiful red, that can be done VERY girly if you do white and red gingham, or even just plain white bedding, that would look very cute with your existing furniture..
and it can also be done VERY boyish for obvious reasons..they also have a pretty green that can be done both ways..
i think thatll be easier, and a very cute "focal" point in the room, then trying to get an EXACT furniture match...

otherwise you had mentioned that the pieces are very far apart, so i dont know how "exact" they really have to be!!

How about Bellini? All of their collections come in 3-4 colorways, and I remember one of them being a blonde wood.

Color is another option...green? Have you considered white? Maybe you can do white and add white accents even if its in storage baskets, a laundry pail or wall accents.

The Land of Nod has a honey color which might go and you can order swatches. We got our crib there and love it.

Re: Girls, we CANNOT find a crib...

thanks... the real issue is that the styles and colors we like don't jive. So, we'll need to make a concession somewhere.

Re: Girls, we CANNOT find a crib...

I definitely recommend looking online to find the manufacturer that makes the style you like, ie. Munire, Mother Hubbard, Natart, Childcraft and Ragazzi have good quality. Check Baby Bargains for other manufacturers.

Note the style with color you like and matches with your other furniture.

Find out which dealer sells the brand and purchase it there from their catalog. Alot of times, the dealer will not display all the cribs they will sell but you can definitely buy it from them.

Or you can just paint your existing furniutre white and get a white crib so it will match.

Good luck!

Re: Girls, we CANNOT find a crib...

We have looked at quite a few stores, and I can't really find anything I really like. I had the best luck at BBB. I'm also going to go to Behrs to look. If all else fails, I will order from PBK.

I saw a few cribs at BBB yesterday that where a light wood color. I think they called it toasted Almond or something like that. PBK has a few colored cribs.

Check out Stanley Youth's 2nd Nature Collection. Not sure if it's your taste, but it may be the color you're looking for. Stanley Link

I have the growing up dresser for DS and I mixed it with the "book shelf" pieces from my Ikea wall unit that are the light wood/blond color. (I don't have the crib. I have a white iron crib from Legacy.) I have the 3 peices on the same wall and you really cannot tell.

The BBB in Huntington had it in the store while was PG (so maybe it would be in the store near you so you can view it.)

Re: Girls, we CANNOT find a crib...

thanks everyone-- so far, these are our choices so you can see what we are looking for... We just need to see how the wood colors match up:

Westwood

this one would be lighter, this is not the color. Munire

If we did a color, so far I like this one. But then, I would need to change my bedding choice-- which is no big deal. myHaven, Stanley YA
