What kind of beer?
Well, tons of beers. Lagers tend to be European, but the bitters, stouts and other types of beers tend to be British.

If you are drinking lager out of a bottle cold, its bound to be an import. You can get all the American beers here, Bud, Rolling Rock etc...not to mention the Alcopops...

Fancy a pint is a good guide to pubs in London

I'm sorry, but the Beer in Englad is SO MUCH BETTER than Bud light.

WHen in Rome, do as the Romans do. Try a Bass Ale. Its my fave no matter what country I'm in.

Re: Girls who have been to london..stupid question but

LOL you can get bud on tap or in a can at almost every London pub. Guinness is also big there, killian's, bass....

there will be some beers you don't know, and TONS of cider, but you will recognize a lot of them.

Try some cider - it is yummy.Chat Icon

You'll get Bud Light. It's brewed in Europe and the same if not better. I'm not a beer drinker but Amstel Light is very popular.

You can always get American beers in Europe. Just expect to pay a little more for them.

BINGO!

The imports were like $7-10 American each, whereas the ales and stouts that are domestic there are just about $3-4 each.

I fell in love with Bailey's on the rocks over there!

Me too. I loved Strongbow.

Oh another tip, if you are used to ordering a drink "on the rocks" you might be disappointed when they have no idea what you wantChat Icon

I got SoCo on the rocks in a pub. After I told them that it meant I wanted ice, I got a huge glass with one (no really, ONE) ice cubeChat Icon

I agree 100%

When we were there last we had a French beer with a slight taste of lemon. I can't remember the name for the life of me and we tried to find it here but it's not imported in. It was very refreshing considering we were there in 90 degree plus weather.

Please at least try their beer. They will allow you to taste it. It's so much better.Chat Icon

Cider - a whole new level of addiction. I used to crave it like people crave coffee.

Re: Girls who have been to london..stupid question but

I don't like beer or cider, but when we were in London, one of my friends loved Snakebites. I think it was beer or cider (or both?) and currant juice. Also, apparently the cider was very good there.

Re: Girls who have been to london..stupid question but

There are two kinds of cider, well, probably more like 3...Dry (which is more like dry wine) Sweet (which is like strongbows) And Scrumpy, which is cloudy. They are all delish! I want a pint now!!!

A snakebite is half beer/half cider with a topper of Blackcurrent cordial. Thats traditionally what students and hippies drink!! A shandy is lovely also, thats half beer or bitter, half lemonade. Also really nice is a pint of lager with a lime top...they put a measure of lime cordial (which is like concentrated lime drink) on top of your beer. yumm.

Unless you go to a cocktail bar, you will not get mixed drinks. You will get a shot (also called a measure or a short) of spirits with a mixer of your tonic/lemonade (oh yeah and lemonade is 7up/sprite, not like american lemonade)

Oh and if you are drinking with the Brits its traditional to buy a round...then someone gets the next etc etc...and if you are a smoker, you hold your fags out to everyone to offer them around. Its share and share alike here!!!

And to think...I don't even smoke or drink!!!
