Girls who referral these companies Update!!:
Hey Folks, I started calling today alarm companies for quotes, but I can't find any information for the following companies:
General Security Sovereign Signal Newsday Security
Do you have a phone number for them?
So far Brinks is the cheapest and All Island was the most expensive (at a whopping $450 for instillation in a 1 entrance townhouse). Still waiting to hear back from Lowitt.
Thanks again ladies! Kerry

Re: Girls who referral these companies:
THANKS, THEY ARE THE CHEAPEST SO FAR!! Free instillation and $25 per month. Now, its just getting someone in there after we close. At least now I can start weeding out some of the companies but so far General Security is the best priced.

Re: Girls who referral these companies:
That's good to know. We have been very pleased with them as an oil delivery company - they came highly recommended by my BIL whose family owns Mystic transporters.

i would make sure to get the details in re: to the free installation. very often the "free installation" only includes x # of windows or doors. motion dectectors, smoke/CM alarms, and additional keypad if needed are priced per item or package. some companies will also offer "free installation" but you have to pay for the system.

absolutely, I asked about all of that and the free installation includes 3 entrances (1 door, 2 windows), 1 motion dector, 1 keypad, back up batteries. For where we are going, that should be ok, even if we pay for one more window, its $50. They still were the cheapest BY FAR

if you are on the ground level, i would have make sure that all windows and doors have a sensor. personal choice but IMO there is no sense in installing an alarm system if you aren't going to protect all modes of viable entry. i would also advise having an additional keypad installed in the MBDRM.

We use General and have been happy with them. $25/month is great. We've been customers for 4 years and pay $22/month so it hasn't gone up much at all.

Re: Girls who referral these companies:
UPDATE:
Well, I just got off the phone with a complete jerk from Brinks. What a grrr! He refused to tell me about the packages on the website, never asked me windows/doors or 1 or 2 stories, nothing about the unit, was upset that I couldn't tell him the exact name of who referred me to them (well idiot, its somebody on this website, but I don't know all their names & numbers) and its none of your business anyhow. I was so surprised! Don't get me wrong, his prices were great, BUT NOT WORTH DEALING WITH SUCH A JERK!!!!
So, then I spoke to Slomin's. They are competitive too and a lot nicer!
So ladies, its basically between Slomin's and GenSecurity. Both are competitive and reliable and priced well.
I just am in complete aww on how awful I was treated by this jerk from Brinks. What a......!!

Re: Girls who referral these companies Update!!:
My MIL uses Slomins and she is very happy with them. Recently, she accidentally set off her own alarm in the middle of the night and then when they called her she said the wrong password at first (she had recently changed it) then remembered the changed one. Since she did that they still sent the cops over to make sure everything was alright. She felt embarassed but was really impressed with the service.

i am sorry that you had a bad experience w/ brinks. that is the company i use and i have never had a problem. the reason why he asked who referred you is because they offer discounts to those that refer them.

Re: Girls who referral these companies Update!!:
I think with Brinks and ADT they are franchises with a national company, so the individual that services a particular area with sales and service can either be great or a real jerk - just depends on who you get.
We met with Lowitt when we first moved here and they were very expensive up front but it was all hard-wired, hidden instead of battery/radio operated.
You don't need a sensor on every window if you go with a sound or motion sensor for a zone and then you don't have those little things on all the windows.
