Girls who saw Dr. Kofinas and were taking Lovenox
When did Dr. Kofinas stop the Lovenox and when did you deliver? I know they will stop the Lovenox and start Heprin at some point. My OB said probably around 36 weeks. God forbid i deliver before then, what happens. My OB said if i were to have a c-Section (which i plan on doing) then they will most likely put me under becuase they wont want to give me an epi or spinal. I will Talk to Dr. Kofinas next time i see him but i was wondering what you ladies had to do. TIA!

Re: Girls who saw Dr. Kofinas and were taking Lovenox
things were crazy for me at the end of my pregnancy , i was having so many problems so he took me off the lovenox incase i gave birth sooner (which i did) at 35 weeks.. it gave me a week of heparin , then i gave birth at 36 weeks.

Did you have a c-section and were you awake? Right now i am on more of a precautionary dose of Lovenox according to my OB. I have Thrombophelioma (Sp?) but it was not affecting anything when i started the Lovenox at around 18 weeks or so. So they started me on it as a precaution. I think i might talk to Dr. Kofinas about possibly starting me on Heparin at 33 weeks or so as long as my levels are still looking good. I want to definitely be awake when i give birth.

Re: Girls who saw Dr. Kofinas and were taking Lovenox
I asked to be taken off the lovenox and switched to Heparin at around 35 weeks bc I was afraid of that happening (My ob had warned me it could happen and that I would have to be knocked out and DH couldn't be in the room with me). Dr Kofinas had no problem with it, I switched to the Heparin (which was two shots a day, once in the am and once at night for me) and I went into labor at 36 wks, 2 days (2 days after I got off the procardia!)

This made me feel better that he didn't try to make you stay on it a little longer. I want to be awake and i want DH to be with me when the babies are born.

Re: Girls who saw Dr. Kofinas and were taking Lovenox
I can't really help with the c section part but I only had to be off the lovenox for 2 days before I had my spinal for my cerclage. Not sure if that helps at all...but thought I would add

Re: Girls who saw Dr. Kofinas and were taking Lovenox
I was having contravtions at 32-33 wks. At my 34 wk appt. with my OB he didn't think I was going to make it another week. I knew I had to be off the lovenox a few days b4 my c/s. I was having contractions really bad at 34wks 4 days and when I called my dr he told me to stop the lovenox. He spoke to Dr. Kofinas prior. I was giving myself shots 2x a day. I stopped my shots on Tues. and delivered on Friday. I was a wake for my c/s. I never went on heperin. However, I did have to start up with Lovenox shots againafter my boys were born for a few wks.

Re: Girls who saw Dr. Kofinas and were taking Lovenox
I never stopped the lovenox. I saw Dr. Kofinas on a Thursday and I was almost 35 weeks. He thought I was in it for the long run and didn't expect me to go for another 3 weeks. Surprise! I went into labor early Tuesday morning. I took my shot the night before at 11pm. Lovenox has a 24 hour life in your body so my ob wanted to wait 24 hours from my last shot before he delivered the twins so I was scheduled to go into surgery at 11pm. They were able to slow down my contractions during the day and I was only a little dialated. However, around 7pm my contractions started up again and my c-section got moved up. I was scared b/c they added another iv line in my other hand in case I bled out and needed a transfusion. However, everything was fine and the twins were delivered at 35 weeks. I was awake for the section. Had a spinal. Knocking me out was never talked about.
