I had a horrible experience on that...my mood swings were awful, I gained weight, I had nasty headaches, and my I broke out...I stayed on it for about 7 months, trying to see if the side effects would level off, but they never did. I'm on Apri now, and I love it.....

my mood swings are terrible, i did gain weight but that could be from all the chocolate i've been eating, and i've been spotting for 3 weeks...i decided last night that i was gonna stop taking it.
The weird thing is that I was on regular Ortho Tri Cyclen for 4 years and it was fine...I decided to switch to the lo and now I am having all these problems.

In the beginning I had alot of side effects - weight gain (about 5 lbs), moodiness, headaches, and the worst side effect of all - it totally KILLED my sex drive.
But after about 3 months, they all went away and I was happy on it for years. I also loved what it did for my skin.
And then last year... I got PG while on it.  How's that for a "side effect"?

I've been on LO for about 2 years now. I was on regular Ortho for 5 years before that. The only side effect that I had was spotting. It happened after being on it for about a year and wasn't consistent. Otherwise is fine. Found no other difference btwn the 2.

I'm on Orthro Tri Cyclen and have been for years. When the LO came out, my gyno wanted me to switch since you obviously want as few synthetic hormones in your body as possible. It was the worst experience I have EVER had. I was such a b!tch, I broke out, I was bloated... The mood swings were the worst part of it though. Truthfully, I would have been engaged months earlier than I was if it hadn't been for that pill but DH was getting nervous about how I had been acting. At my next appt I asked to go back to the regular and within 2 weeks I was back to normal.
I know everyone's experiences are different but I would not recommend the LO for anything in the world.
ETA: I was on it for 6 months.

 Thanks girls...I feel a lot better now that I know it's just not me with all these crazy side effects.
Is it bad to just stop taking it in mid cycle? Does anyone know??

If you stop mid-cycle, you will get your menstrual cycle. You are better off finishing not to throw off your whole cycle. You should also call your doctor and let him/her know the way you are feeling and the side effects and he/she can prescribe another pill for you.

I also had bad side effects from Orthotryclyn Lo...I was always really emotional and I had alot of breakthrough bleeding. Now I am on Orthcyclen and its amazing! Its a steady hormone throughout the month and then the placebo.
