girls who went back to work....

i need some kind words to pass on to my SIL...she just had twins in august and is now going back to work in january. she is devestated and i feel so sorry for her..is there anything i can say to make her feel better? can you remember anything anyone said to you that made you feel better? she is a teacher..she knows that she is lucky and she has summers off..but her intial going back is scary for her...any help would be appreciated..thanks so much Chat Icon

I have something that was really nice to hear...the other day at playgroup I was complaining to a girl that I was afraid that the Christmas break wasn't going to seem like a break, because sometimes when you are home on maternity leave (if you have no plans to drink coffee that is) everyday can just morph into the next, so everyday is the same. Now, barring someone coming to my house and taking my son away for two days (which would seem heavenly right about now...any takers?) Christmas Day is just going to be like any other day...(this story is going somewhere) Well Lily said to me that once you go back to work, life isn't like that so much anymore. The days that you have off to spend with your babies are so much more special and you just look forward to them so much that it just puts life back into perspective.

I hope that helps! It made me feel so much better! And I too go back to work on the 4 January...after 13 months maternity leave, I know how she feels!

I have been back to work for a month now and have twins too. The one thing i can say is that the time you have with your babies after work is 10x more special now that you only have a few hours in the day. Plus I really look forward to the weekends to get to spend a lot of time with just them.

Plus, I always think about how important it is for our family that i work so that i can provide for them and so they never go without anything they need in the future.

Those two things really make it easier.
