I cannot find flattering tops!!!

this whole "flowy baggy" thing is in and everywhere and I can't take it. it's so frustrating. it looks HORRIBLE on me. I look like a cow. and button down shirts don't work either b/c the gap at the boob if they flatter the waist and if they fit at the boob I look like a box.

pants used to be my big problem. now EVERTHING is a problem.

my husband told me to shop. I have carte blanche. and I can't even find anything to spend the money on.

right now I am about 1-2 sizes off my normal but still proportionally the same (about 2 inches bigger everywhere than normal.) this is so flipping frustrating. I look disgusting but don't want to spend on stuff that looks equally disgusting, just new.

How about empire waist tunics? Dresses? BTW I have no idea what the difference is between my waist and my hips...off to measure

What about layers? I am carrying a few extra pounds right now and have the proportion issue that you describe. I find I am most comfortable in and look the best in a fitted tank of some kind with a cardigan or even for a more casual look a open button down shirt. This way I don't look like I'm wearing a tent but have the extra coverage that I'm liking right now.

Another idea is stores like Jcrew have these tissue type (lighter for spring) vneck sweaters. They are more fitted than not but still give you some room. You can even wear a button down under it, a tank or Tshirt.

Lastly, I find that if I buy a more blousy top, if I tuck it in with a belt and blouse it out a bit (depends on style of course)...it gives me a better shape.

I live in tops that have some sort of lycra/spandax/nylon in them. I need stretch because of my bustline, but I don't like things too loose in the waist because it makes me look bigger than I really am.

I buy a lot of tops from Victoria's Secret. Mainly their tees. I also buy sweaters that have some stretch to them.

If I'm going to wear a dress, again, it needs to have some stretch.

Not sure if you are working/ need work attire but the brooks brothers outlet has great non iron blouses.


the "tailored fit" leaves room for a bust and a waist. they are very flattering- as if they were tailored to a curvy figure.

they can be pricey but they wash really well and need no ironing - pop them straight out of the dryer.

you can wear them untucked with skinny pants and cute flats...

bxgell also posted a great type of blouse- tighter on the hip but room in the waist. check ann taylor loft for styles like that

thick tank tops from target ill wear under a cardigan buttoned - for some pzaz you can cinch the waist with a belt.

big thick belts are your friend

try wrap dresses or anything that will accent your waist. something with a tie/belt.

also try wearing longer tops to elongate your torso.
