Girls with Endo & TTC

I have stage #4 (85% of my organs are covered in lesions from nodes, scar tissue, etc.) I've had 3 laproscopies in the past.

I'm wondering how others are TTC and dealing with their endo at the same time.

Any advice or words of encouragement?

Re: Girls with Endo & TTC

I try not to think about it but I can't help but get upset and thing that it might be out of control again since we've been TTC for over 10 months now.

I'm going to be making an apt. to talk with my Dr. to see what my options are.

No real words of advice but your not alone!!

Re: Girls with Endo & TTC

I have Stage IV Endo as well. I had it before I got PG with my first son but didn't know it and I believe it was just starting. Luckily I got PG right away with him. Then I was having pain almost 2 years after he was born and found that I had huge cysts on one of my ovaries as well as Endo everywhere else. I ended up having a Lap done. At that time the doctor told me I would never get PG again, but lo and behold, we TTC that same cycle of having the LAP and I got PG with my second son. He truly was our miracle baby. Fast forward to now, my youngest one is 2.5 yrs old and shortly after he turned 2 I was having some Endo symptoms so I had a bunch of tests done. It showed cysts on both my ovaries this time. Mostly on the same "bad" ovary, but more so all over and worse than before. My doctor didn't want me having another Lap due to the scar tissue it causes. I told her we want to have another baby at some point so she didn't want me to do another surgery. With wanting to preserve my fertility to have another baby as soon as our finances get better, right now I'm on my 3rd month of a Lupron treatment. Basically I'm in a temporary menopausal state right now. This should clear up my Endo completely and start from a clear slate. I was scared to death to do this treatment, but so far I'm very happy with deciding to do it. Hopefully in the end we'll be able to have another baby. For me, my Endo gets worse and worse no matter what I do to control it so this was basically my last chance to save my fertility. I don't know if I'll be able to get PG again, but hopefully we will. But I do have my 2 beautiful miracle boys. It feels great to prove the doctors wrong. All I can say is not to give up and go with your gut instinct on things. Even with Stage IV Endo, you can have a baby. Chat Icon

Re: Girls with Endo & TTC

Wow. Thanks Ladies.

Melissa, I never did Lupron b/c I heard nothing but horror stories about it but if its working for you - thanks great. Your boys are so handsome and true blessings.

DH and I have spoken about my fertility and endo since we started dating so thankfully he and I have an understanding that if I can't get PG or can't carry to term, we will utilize other options but I'm just worried I guess now that its here and we are TTC.

But know that you have the same stage and have 2 great kids, my faith is restoring.

Re: Girls with Endo & TTC

I was faced with Lupron before my 2nd son, and I was so scared to death to do it, I refused. At that point I was hysterical so we decided to TTC#2 right away on our own. Thank God I got PG.

This time around I was still extremely scared to do it. Just ask the girls on Infertility. That's all I would post about. I cried about it so many times. I must have met with my doctor 4-5 times just to discuss all of my options. In her opinion, it was my best chance. I completely trust her. She delivered both my boys and actually told me I'd get PG with my 2nd child. She was right. I feel like she's part of my family. I've been through a lot and she was right there along with me. I've been seeing her for over 5 years now. She's very special to our family. She's funny because during my 2nd c-section she peeks over the curtain and says that she thinks I can get PG again! LOL!

I scared myself so much by reading on the internet about the side effects of the Lupron. I discussed my fears and concerns with my doctor and she made me feel soooo at ease and finally comfortable with doing the treatment. I haven't had any of the horrible side effects I read about. The only side effects I've had are brain fog (LOL), a little cranky, tired, mood swings (though we already have a lot of stress at home), trouble losing weight, etc. I haven't even had hot flashes which are VERY common. This treatment is like nothing. At least so far. I am taking an Add-back therapy medicine to help with some side effects. If you had to do the Lupron. I would definitely recommend it to anyone now. One good thing is that you don't get your periods! LOL!

Good luck to you and your TTC journey and hopefully your stay here will be short. You just never know! For me, having the Lap helped me getting PG, so I'm hoping doing this treatment will help as well. We'll see I guess! Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: Girls with Endo & TTC

I was on Lupron about ten years ago- my right ovary and tube were taken out b/c on my endo. I was on BCP after for about 9 years, and that kept it under control. It hasn't really had a chance to come back since I've been TTC.
