Giving breast milk from a bottle
Do you warm it first (like placing it in warm water)? Or serve it up cold?

Re: Giving breast milk from a bottle
I would heat it slightly just to take the chill off or leave it out for a little while before I needed it. BF babies are used room temp milk. I only did that in the beginning with my older daughter. As she got older and was used to the bottle I just gave it cold. I'm doing the same with this baby.

Re: Giving breast milk from a bottle
We always warmed it in warm water because he was used to it at body temp. Now, at 8 months, we try to warm it for less time. We hope he will slowly get used to colder drinks.

Re: Giving breast milk from a bottle
If just pumped I never warmed it.
If stored in the fridge or in the freezer, I would warm it.

I do the same as PP. If freshly pumped, I just give it to DS as is. If it's been stored in the fridge, I put it in a warm water bath for a few minutes.

Re: Giving breast milk from a bottle
DD won't drink it if it's cold, so whoever is feeding her warms it to body temperature.

I am asking bec Gavin will be 10 days old and I am thinking I should start storing milk for the future.

Re: Giving breast milk from a bottle
most of my bottles were out from earlier in the day, so they were room temp.
BF babies can be hard on taking a bottle, so I would warm it up if it was in the fridge to make it more appealing.

Yes, I started pumping this week. I pump in the morning usually after she eats or while she is sleeping. So far I have 4 bottles of about 3oz each
We are planning to introduce the bottle this weekend, so then DH can feed her and I can be free to do more
