Giving/Getting Advice
I've gotten a lot of good advice from you guys and I hope that some advice I've given helped.
Do you find yourself able to give advice to people but when you are faced with a dilemma/problem you can't see clearly about it or you can't seem to work it out?
I'm one that can give the advice but find it hard to take it although I know it's in my best interest.

I know what you mean. I can always give good advice, but taking it myself I guess you can say I'm stubborn and silly.

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
For me, it's easier to see the right thing to do when I'm not involved. But when I'm involved sometimes I just can't see it clearly.

It's hard to see the forest through the trees (big picture) even though you know what you should do.
Easier said than done.

I am like that. Can give advice to others but can't give it to myself . . . .

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
I agree with everything you have all said. I am pretty good when it comes to giving advice, but when I am the one in the same situation, it feels very different and is sometimes hard to rationalize.

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
It is hard to give yourself advice. I always need to talk my problems out with other people to see the situation clearly. I also appreciate other perspectives.

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
Sometimes, I try to think of what I would suggest to someone else in my situation. Lately, that hasn't been helping!

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
im pretty decisive about things. if im torn between 2 things and ask someone, im usually leaning towards one myself and im usually asking for re-confirmation.
however, when i do ask for advice and i have no clue what to do, thats when i usually take it.
My husband, mom and boss give great advice and I am likely to take thiers.

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
I couldnt agree more with you. I am a social worker giving all kinds of advice but believe me that doesnt make me free from my own set of problems that go unresolved. I think its different when dealing with your own issues then someone elses.

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
I am good at giving it, but don't often ask for it. Usually, I have an idea of what I want to do and use someone as a sounding board. I think I only have about 3 or 4 people I would trust to give me good advice that I would be likely to follow.

Re: Giving/Getting Advice
I definately find it easier to give advice on something when I'm on the outside looking in.
